With Ken as “host,” Barbie’s pink-drenched Malibu DreamHouse is hitting Airbnb once again this month, offering guests the chance to stay at the house prior to the upcoming release of the doll’s eponymous film, directed by Greta Gerwig. The overnight stays are timed to the July 21 release of the “Barbie” movie, which stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. The company also says “everyone in Barbie Land” can request to book Ken’s room in the Malibu DreamHouse beginning July 17 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, anyone can request to book Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse on Airbnb.
"While everyone's favourite doll makes her live-action film debut, Ken is handing over the keys and hosting an overnight stay in the newly renovated and iconic Malibu Dreamhouse," says the homes rental company. The hot pink wonderland is full of fun details, including an infinity pool with “Ken” pool floats, a pink waterslide and plenty of Ken and Barbie-approved accessories, from surfboards to a life-size horse. The ground floor is, by far, the most intricate, pink, and best out of the mansion’s three floors. The infinity pool flows out, rolling over the hills, and—if you squint—it appears to be part of the ocean. Those “KEN” balloons spotted in Airbnb’s original listing were gone by the time I visited, but a mass of floaties tumbled around in the water instead. A pink slide spirals into the pool, but it comes just short of the actual water.
